  64. II. InterVideo Data Injection
  65.  
  66. How to view injected data with WinRip.
  67. -------------------------------------
  68.  
  69. You can get injected songs from sites such as MP3.com.
  70. Simply download the injected song to your computer and
  71. then use the Impoirt Wizard on WinRip's Music Gallery
  72. page (in Jukebox Mode) to add the song to your local
  73. database. Double click on the file and if it has ID
  74. data then WinRip should automatically switch to the
  75. IDI Viewer snapin and show you exciting content such
  76. as lyrics and web pages. (A live Internet connection
  77. is needed to see most web pages.)

  79. How to Inject Songs with WinRip.
  80. --------------------------------
  81.  
  82. 1)  Pick a song on a CD that you would like to inject into
  83. 2)  Go to your favorite Lyrics site on the web and search
  84.     for the Artist and Song
  85. 3)  Once you have found the Lyrics, highlight them with your
  86.     mouse, copy them (CTRL-C), Open the Windows Notepad or
  87.     another text editro and paste the lyrics to a new file.
  88. 4)  Examine the data and replace any unspoken text with the
  89.     spoken text (i.e. replace "repeat Chorus" with the
  90.     actual chorus).
  91. 5)  Eliminate extra line feeds.
  92. 6)  Break long sentences into phrases, much as they are sung.
  93. 7)  Save the file
  94. 8)  Open or switch to WinRip
  95. 9)  Insert the CD which has the song to be ripped. CDDB
  96.     should also identify the CD's content if you are online.
  97. 10) Right click on the song you want injected and select
  98.     IDI Editing from the right-click menu.
  99. 13) In the IDI Editor Select "Import", and then locate the
  100.     file that you saved in step 7.
  101. 14) The imported text will appear line-by-line just as
  102.     you saved it. Now you need to assing display times
  103.     for each line.
  104. 15) Highlight the first line of text. Click on Play.
  105. 16) When you hear the 1st word sung, click on "Set Time".
  106.     That time will be set for that line and then the next
  107.     line will then be highlighted.
  108. 17) Continue this for each line of text.
  109. 20) When the song is complete, select "Pause"
  110. 21) Select "Save As", and save your timed lyrics. Now it
  111.     is time to create your injected MP3 file.
  112. 22) After saving the timed file, select "Record"
  113. 23) The program return to the CD Audio page and begin to
  114.     rip the song to your hard drive, injecting the lyrics
  115.     at the same time.
  116. 24) Once ripped, the injected song will be listed in the
  117.     Music Gallery by Artist, Album and Track Name. 
  118. 25) Click on the injected file to play it. WinRip will
  119.     switch to the IDI Viewer and the lyrics will appear
  120.     below the viewer, synchronized to the music.
  121. 25) If the lyrics are not perfectly synchronized, you
  122.     can examine the timed text file for problems. For
  123.     example, sometimes two lines have the same time. 
  124.     You can edit the text or times and then re-record
  125.     the file if you like.
  126. 26) Injection can also be done from MP3 or WAV files
  127.     to MP3 files, from the Music Gallery. When injecting
  128.     from an existing MP3 file, the file is decoded and
  129.     the re-encoded, which might cause some audio degradation.
  130.     One way to minimize this is to start with a higher
  131.     bitrate.
  132. 27) When injecting files in the Music Gallery, the new
  133.     files will be written to the same location and with
  134.     the same filename appended with an incrmental number.
  135.     (For example, mysong.mp3 becomes mysong1.mp3).

  138. III.  Specifications and Requirements
  139.  
  140. Processor         PII 266MHz or better
  141. RAM            64Mb
  142. Operating System     Windows 98/98 SE/2000 and Windows Millennium
  143. Sound            Windows compatible sound card speakers
  144. CD-ROM            Minimum 4x CD-ROM
  145.             Digital Audio Extraction mode required
  146. Hard Disc        20Mb of free space for installation of the software
  147.             50Mb for storage space of 60 minutes music (minimum)
  148. Internet Connection    An Internet connection is for CDDB access, WinRip
  149.             product registration, and viewing most IDI content.
  150.             IE version 5.0 required for IDI page navigation.

  152. Please note that during program installation, WinRip detects 
  153. processor speed and adjusts settings for the recording quality 
  154. accordingly. Total recording time depends on the available disk 
  155. space. The better the record quality, the more disk storage 
  156. space required.

  159. IV. WinRip Installation
  160.  
  161. The following procedure describes how to install the
  162. Intervideo WinRip Software Version 1.0. 
  163.  
  164. To install WinRip:
  165.  
  166. 1. Double-click on the Setup.exe file.
  167.  
  168. 2. Follow the prompts.
  169.  
  170. 3. When prompted please accept the default destination directory.
  171.    WinRip may not run properly in any other directory.
  172.  
  173. 4. After installation the Configuration Wizard will start.
  174.    Most users can just accept the defaults. All of these
  175.    options can also be changed after the program is run.
  176.  
  177. 5. Once the Installation and Configuration Wizard have completed, 
  178.    a WinRip icon is placed on the desktop, double clicking this 
  179.    icon loads the WinRip program.
  180.  
  181. 6. The first time the product is run you will be prompted
  182.    to Register to encode MP3 files and access the CDDB
  183.    database. You may choose not to register at this time
  184.    and WinRip will remond you later. You can also Register
  185.    at any time by selecting Product Registration from the
  186.    JukeBox Mode Help Menu.
  187.  
  188. 7. If you are using a Trial Version of WinRip, the product
  189.    is limited to 30 days of MP3 encoding and CDDB access.
  190.    This restriction can be removed at any time by purchasing
  191.    an "upgrade" which will activate the features permanently.
  192.    Regardless of whether you upgrade or not, all other
  193.    functions in WinRip will continue to operate after the
  194.    trial period has expired.
